Celebrity Disc Golfers
Celebrities like to disc golf. Let’s just get that out in the air. While there has never been a high-profile name that has truly adopted and grown the sport, there is increasing evidence that celebrities are playing our sport. I feel the nature of disc golf makes it the perfect sport for our famous friends. Disc golf allows us to relax in nature with friends while getting exercise away from mass groups of people; what’s not to like?
This list will take shape in two forms; those who are helping advance the sport and those who are rumored to play. The celebrities who have the biggest impact on the game are on Innova’s “Celebrity Ambassador Team.” They are influencers who have a passion for disc golf and are in a position to help grow the sport. There are three individuals from TV and/or movies and the team also consists of athletes and musicians. Click names to see their profiles on the Innova page. Ben Askren- Askren is a former Olympic wrestler and retired UFC fighter and he may just have the most public influence on the growth of disc golf of any celebrity. Thank you for your efforts, good sir.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson- Björnsson is a former World’s Strongest Man as well as an actor. He played Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones for five seasons. This article from UDisc explains more about his connection to disc golf.
Bubba Watson- Watson is a professional ball golfer with a passion for disc golf. He once created a nine-hole challenge at a baseball park in his home state of Florida and invited folks to play at his “Bubba Watson’s Diamond Disc Golf Challenge.” Now that’s growing the sport!
Bryson Dechambeau- Dechambeau is a professional ball golfer who won the US Open in 2020. His disc golf involvement was revealed in 2021 during the Masters when he was spotted at a disc golf course after his tournament round. A lucky family got to share a moment with him on the course.

Danica Patrick- Patrick is a NASCAR driver and one of the most recognizable figures in the sport. Jason Alexander- Alexander played George Costanza on Seinfeld and gave disc golf its most widespread pop culture mention in the history of the sport. In the “Summer Of George” episode aired in 1997, Costanza proclaimed, “I’m gonna play frolf…Golf with a frisbee. This is gonna be my time. Time to taste the fruits and let the juices drip down my chin. I proclaim this: The Summer of George!”
