Mark all of your discs – Write your name, phone number, and/or social media handle on all of your discs. By doing this, the person who finds it, if it isn’t you, has a chance of returning it to you, saving you from having to spend money on replacing said disc. Throw Bright Colored Discs – Throw colors like pink, purple, blue, or bright yellow (like the bright color options from Axiom). These colors are easily distinguishable from the colors of the woods and other natural colors like greens, browns, and oranges.

Start Looking Right Away – An easy mistake most of us make after throwing a bad throw is to throw a second one right after the first one. Instead of throwing two shots, start looking for the first one right away, keeping in mind to watch your disc follow through as previously mentioned.

Mentally Replay Your Shot – Mentally replaying your shot and where your disc went, skipped, rolled, bounced, or ricocheted right after throwing using landmarks to help pinpoint your disc is a great way to speed up the search process.

Circle Outward or Divide the Area Into a Grid – By circling outward or dividing the area into a mental grid, it will reduce search time and help prevent searching the same area twice. If playing with a group, divide and conquer by assigning different grids or zones to each “scout.”

Don’t Forget To Look Up – If you spend most of the time looking down, you’ll forget to look up! The disc you’re looking for could be stuck up in a tree or a tall bush. (Bonus tip: Do not throw another disc to get the first one down or you risk getting two stuck, and you’ll end up double disappointed.)

Start Over – If you find yourself following all the previously mentioned tips and you still have no luck finding your disc, start over. By restarting the search, you could find it by searching an overlooked area or remembering where it landed by retracing your steps.
